Literature Text

"It's not worth thanking me for.  I'm just trying to do what's best," Eclipse replied.
As much as Thunder wanted to elaborate on what he was actually appreciative of, he was dumbfounded yet again and simply let the conversation end there.  It was so hard muster his will to speak about things on which he had mixed feelings.  He felt bad about leaving the older wolf to die, however Thunder's decision to do so was even approved by Eclipse himself.  The brown-and-white pup was still accepting of his half-brother's death despite currently walking with him.  It made their interactions seem to be within a self-aware dream.
The turquoise-eyed pup slowly drifted behind his pack-mates.  So far, he had been wrong about everything.  He owed Lily an apology as well as an explanation as to why he refused to hunt.  It never felt like the right time to say anything.  He's tried to before.
Thunder released a breath he hadn't realized he'd withheld.  Lily angled her ear toward the sound.  "What's your problem now?" she grumbled.  "You got what you wanted."
Her brother acknowledged her with an empty look but didn't argue.
"Lay off," Magnolia, almost too quietly to hear, defended him.
"Excuse me?" Lily responded in a low growl.
The other she-pup didn't repeat herself, partially regretting her decision to have said anything at all.
"...Wimpy coveter," Lily called her under her breath.
The gray she-pup attempted to weigh the pros and cons of finishing what she'd started, to no avail.  It would be too late for an answer had she logically thought it through.  Without a second thought, Magnolia blurted, "You're the one who always seems to have a problem with something.  Just--just when I was beginning to think that you weren't so bad, you went ahead and threw a fit about which way to go, and...and that's just one thing--to disagree...  It's another to go around--to go around acting like everyone else is wrong for..."
"Everyone else is wrong!" Lily exclaimed with frustration.  "You think I've got a problem?  Well, I do:  I have a problem with all of your problems!  We decide to go one way and suddenly everyone has a problem, so we all have to change course."  She hesitated for a second.
Magnolia parted her jaws to retort, but Lily cut her off.
"And it isn't just that...  I was right about your stealing problem.  You both said your stealing would help us, yet all you've managed to do was get Blade on our tail."  The blue-violet-eyed she-pup once again tried, unsuccessfully, to butt in.  "Thunder kept telling us not to hunt, but I've been hunting with Eclipse and nothing bad's happened."
Magnolia's nerve was fading fast at the black-and-white she-pup's points.
"Thunder told me Eclipse was dead when I tried to go back for him, but he's still here, isn't he?" Lily said, exasperated.  "But, somehow, it's still impossible for any of you to believe me."  She stopped walking and aimed her light blue eyes up at her half-brother, her ever-quieter voice yielding more sorrow than anger.  "Even the one guy who does believe me still ends up listening to the two of you."  Lily sat down.  Voicelessly, she asked, "Why..."
Eclipse paused.  Thunder and Magnolia exchanged a helpless glance.
     "...Why am I even here?"
I'm just going to say that each character in this story is a different piece of me.  But Lily...  Lily has got to be the closest one.  The main difference between her and myself is that she's brave enough to voice her problems, regardless of if it makes her annoying.
