The Crimson River *Chapter 6, Part 1* It must have been half an hour before Lily could accumulate the emotional strength to stand, but time was nothing to her, for she was on her own now...at least, that's what she thought, until the sound of nearing paw-steps caught her attention.
"You're still here," Eclipse said elatedly.
The black-and-white she-pup hadn't expected to see him again, but at the moment she really didn't care. "Yeah. What does it matter?"
"I guess it doesn't." He looked away for a moment, thinking.
Lily was disinterested in anything her half-brother had to say. She began to walk away.
"Wait," he called. When she did, he continued, "about before... You're..."
"Yes, I'm also Midnight's pup. Anything else you want to clear up, slow-poke?"
"I already figured that out, thanks... I just...wanted to make sure you're okay. Where's your brother?"
"He left with a rogue," she said matter-of-factly.
The Crimson River *Chapter 5, part 3* A brown she-wolf with a white underbelly and black streaks down her back left Sunlight along with her pack-mates at their alpha-female's dismissal. Since Amelia died, she knew it was only a matter of time before Silver did something as inconsiderate as sending defenseless 'loners' to their deaths, but she still found the act to be horrifying, and she was going to tell him that to his face.
As she barged through the bushes that blocked the way into his den, he stood up and growled, "I don't want to hear it, Maple."
"You don't know what I was going to say," Maple pointed out.
"Yes I do. You were going to say the same thing you always say after Sunlight's meetings: to completely change my plans and get nothing done."
"I'm not asking you to change your plans...at least, not exactly."
"That's new. Well, spit it out, then."
"You and I both know that a coward and a healer are as good as dead out there on their own..."
The Crimson River *Chapter 5, Part 2* Cotton leaned on Nimbus for support as the two reached Silver's pack just seconds after Sunlight and Skyline did.
The gray-and-gold wolf greeted them with surprise to see Midnight's healer. "What is he doing here?" Silver consulted his mate.
"All of his pack-mates are deceased, including Midnight and Lightning. Although there's a chance the latter two's pups are alive," Sunlight answered. "Because of his circumstance, Nimbus suggested we let him stay with us, and I agreed." The tan-and-white she-wolf dared the alpha-male to oppose the idea.
Silver didn't care about the threat in her eyes. "I suppose he could help Nimbus." He looked behind her. "You say his pack is dead? What killed them?"
"An attack lead by that Shadow-guy Midnight was so afraid of."
He turned to Cotton. "Is this Shadow a threat to us?"
"No. He fled after the fight started, so I don't think he'll be coming back.
The Crimson River *Chapter 5, Part 1* Silver, Rumble, and Sunlight returned to their home, where the rest of their pack were waiting for them. The former two heaved the stag they had used as bait into the midst of the gathered wolves; some started eating it, and others simply turned away, for the latter knew its being there was confirmation that their attempt at finding their lost pack-mate was unsuccessful.
There was a mostly white wolf with patches of dark gray on his back that refused to believe it, and he came charging to confront the tan-colored she-wolf. "Where is my daughter? Did you find her?"
"Skyline... If she were here, you would see her," Sunlight growled impatiently.
Upon hearing the dark side of his alpha female in her tone, Rumble shook his head and started to back away from the scene.
"You mean to tell me--all this time--that deer didn't attract anyone?"
Rumble's ears perked up. "No, it attracted two pups--and they both tried to
