First of all, I smudged the original's shading some more, to make it more to my liking.
Second, I added a new layer of more strengthened lighting
Third, I added a new layer of more strengthened darkness
Fourth, I added a cover-up layer of nothing but darkness going to light, which I erased around the edges of my kitty fursona
Fifth, I added the blue on her ears (they hadn't been added to her official design at the time of the original drawing)
Sixth, I smoothed out the tops of her eyes.
