The Crimson River *Chapter 3, Part 1* Lily awoke from the morning light shining against her light blue eyes. She stood and stretched, and although her vision was bleary from sleep, she could still see her brother whom was snoring quietly beside her...and see that their catch was missing. Again. Outraged, the black-and-white she-pup followed the rogue's recent scent trail to the edge of the small clearing and yelled, "You coward! Do you think you're clever, coming back after we caught you in the act?! Well, you're not! You're just a scared little puppy who never learned to hunt your own prey!" Thunder stirred from his sister's noise. Lightheaded and dry-eyed with exhaustion, he endeavored to sit up. "Lily?! Why are you--" "Let's see you face us when when we're awake! Oh, that's right: you did, and you ran away like the bunny you stole from us!" "Lily! That's enough! This isn't our territory; if
The MoonI stare at the sky on a stormy nightWatching the clouds as they're passing me byPatiently waiting for the sun to riseIt will not be anytime soon...I'm chilled to the bone from the icy windShivering when the rain starts to move inI scream for the dark to come to an endAnd take out my rage on the moon...
The Crimson River *Chapter 2, Part 3*The moon was taking the sun's place in the darkening sky. Thunder continued walking at a steady pace with his head low and his eyes narrowed. Lily was dragging her paws a short distance behind him, panting wearily. She let herself fall to a seat. "I'm starving..." The brown-and-white pup didn't react to her, instead just keeping on. After taking about five seconds to identify the words from his sister's voice, he stopped and glanced over his shoulder at her. His turquoise eyes yielded empathy toward the black-and-white she-pup that faded into a look of defeat, which resulted in him facing away from his sister to avoid worrying her. Lily noticed his emotion despite his halfhearted attempt to hide it. She got up and went to his side. The moment she was starting to peer around his shoulder to see his face, Thunder slinked away from her with a shake of his head. "I'll find us something," he assured her with rather for
The Crimson River *Chapter 2, Part 2* The two pups passed where they had slept the previous night. Lily sniffed at the ground in an attempt to find and memorize Shadow's scent. Thunder watched her patiently from a few paces ahead of his sister. His stomach growled. Not used to fighting hunger, he let his gaze sweep the small clearing for the remains of the rabbit he had caught that morning, and it was then that he noticed it wasn't there. Lily didn't eat the entire thing... It should still be here. Where did it go? "I wish Father would have taken us hunting instead of making us go with Rose. At least then I could know how to tell what scent is what," Lily muttered. "It's like there's two different smells, and I can't tell which one is Shadow's..." "What do you mean?" asked Thunder, puzzled. He already had Shadow's scent memorized, so he hadn't bothered to sniff the ground for anything different since the last time they were here.
